Viruses
To protect yourself from viruses, CPWS Broadband recommends that you use auto-updating anti-virus software and a software firewall. There are numerous quality products available, and whether you're a MAC or PC user, a firewall is a good security tool to help insure your system's security isn't compromised. We have made available an online virus and security scan for our customers.

Spam
CPWS Broadband mainly deals with spam that originates from within the CPWS Broadband network. If you have received spam that did not originate from CPWS Broadband customers, please send your complaint to the originating ISP or network provider (usually abuse@domain). Spyware
If you have installed "free" programs, especially music-sharing programs such as BearShare, LimeWire or KaZaA, you may have unknowingly installed other programs as well. These tiny "applets" can show pop-ups at random intervals or when certain programs are activated such as Internet Explorer. If you are experiencing pop-ups generated by one of these malicious programs, you may want to remove the pop-up program from your computer. One program that attempts to detect and uninstall pop-up programs is available at: http://download.cnet.com/downloads.
